(a) the schemes being implemented at present to help the agricultural labourers in the States in case of any accidents;

(b) whether any such scheme has been implemented in Madhya Pradesh;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the amount spent under the scheme as on date?

(a): Different States are implementing different schemes to provide social security/insurance cover to the agricultural workers in case of any accident. `Janshree Bima Yojana` an insurance scheme is in operation for the people, including agricultural labourers, living below or marginally above the poverty line. The benefits include payment of Rs.20,000/- in case of natural death and Rs.50,000/- in case of death due to accident. Partial disability is also covered.

(b) to (d): According to the information received from the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the State Government is implementing `Indira Krishi Shramik Durghatna Chhatipurti Yojana` to help the agricultural labourers in the unorganised sector by providing compensation in case of death or disability by accidents. Under the scheme, a compensation of Rs.15,000/- is being paid to the next of deceased in case of death and Rs.3000/- in case of disability due to accident. During the year 2004-05, a compensation amount of Rs. 33.9 lakh has been distributed to 260 beneficiaries.
