(a) & (b) : This Ministry does not maintain details of all the organisations, autonomous bodies and educational institutions engaged in research activities in the field of road safety in the country .
(c) & (d) : No funds were provided by this Ministry to the organisations, autonomous bodies and educational institutions engaged in research activities in the field of road safety during the Ninth Five Year Plan Period other than to Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune who were provided Rs 1 crore as corpus fund to set up a center for excellence, as also a sum of Rs 30 lakh to set up a center of road safety. The center has carried out studies on road safety scenario and analysis of road accident data in the States of UP, Lucknow City, Tamil Nadu, Patna City, Bangalore City, Chennai City, NH-5, Maharashtra State, NH-8 and Sikkim. . CIRT has also been entrusted with a study of the cases of tyre burst on Mumbai -Pune Expressway
