Question : Funds Allocated to State Governments

(a) whether the Government has fixed the criteria for allocation of funds to the State Governments for development of national highways in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the funds allocated during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government proposes to increase the share of Union Government for the development of National Highways; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken thereon?

(a) State/Union Territory (UT)-wise allocation of funds for development of National Highways (NHs) are made keeping in view the requirement and availability of resources.

(b) The details of State/UT-wise allocation of funds for development of NHs for last three years and the current year are annexed.

(c) and (d) Requirement of funds are reviewed from time to time to ensure that no work suffers for want of fund. The responsibility of development of NHs rests with the Central Government. All funds are provided by the Union Government.
