(a) whether there are more than 40 per cent vacancies in the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as on date, leading to severe delay in investigating and deciding cases related to the anti-competition complaints and if so, the details thereof; and
(b) the details of steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) The position of sanctioned and vacant posts of Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Office of Director General, CCI, is as follows:-

(b) Competition Commission of India notifies the existing vacancies, normally, 3-4 times in a year for filling them up as per the prescribed mode of recruitment. Recently, 09 candidates have been selected for appointment on deputation, to various posts in the Office of Director General, CCI.
The CCI has advertised 28 posts on 03.05.2017, in various categories, for recruitment on deputation basis. Besides this, 31 posts have been notified on 30.06.2017 for direct recruitment.
