Question : BS-VI Fuel

(a) whether the Government is planning to in traduce BS-VI fuel for vehicles in the country and if so, the details thereof and the time by which it is likely to be introduced;
(b) the details of the number of States in which BS-VI fuel will be introduced initially including the price at which it will be available in these States, State/Price-wise; and
(c) whether it is likely to be very costly initially, if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor and the time by which it will be provided at the reasonable rate in the country?

(a) to (c) Government has decided that Bharat Stage-VI (BS-VI) emission standards fuels will be supplied across the country w.e.f. 01.04.2020 and supply of BS-VI fuels in National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi has been started w.e.f. 01.04.2018. Government has started supply of BS-VI auto fuels in 20 Districts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Prices of petrol and diesel have been made market-determined by the Government with effect from 26.06.2010 and 19.10.2014 respectively. Since then, the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies take appropriate decision on pricing of petrol and diesel in line with international product prices, exchange rate, tax structure, inland freight and other cost elements and accordingly product-wise margin is arrived.
