(a) & (b) According to a report published by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF; 4th Edition, 2009),
Indiaâs estimates for diabetes Mellitus (20-79) in the year 2010 are projected to be around 50.7 million.
Further information is not available.(c): The Government of India has approved a National Programme for
Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke at an estimated outlay of
Rs. 1230.90 crore. The programme focuses on health promotion, capacity building including human resources,
early diagnosis and management and integration with the primary health care system.
