Question : CLOSURE OF INDUSTRIAL UNITS

 

(a) the number of factories/units lying closed and declared sick due to economic recession during each of the last three years and the current year in the country, State-wise;

(b) the number out of these factories/units lying closed on the recommendations of Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction during the said period, State-wise and year-wise; and

(c) the number of workers/employees rendered jobless as a result thereof during the said period, State-wise and year-wise?

(a) to (c): As per the statistics compiled by Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour & Employment, State-wise break up of number of factories/units closed and workers affected during 2006 to 2009(P) is at Annex I. As per the statistics complied by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR), number of Companies declared sick during the last three years and the current year, State-wise, is at Annex. II. The statement showing number of such companies recommended by BIFR for winding up from 01-01-2007 to 31-01-2010 is at Annex. III.
