Question : CASES OF MID AIR MISHAPHS



(a) the number of mid air mishaps reported during the last three years alongwith the reasons of each case;

(b) whether the Government have any proposal to make it compulsory to equip each aircraft with disaster warning system;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) During the last three years, there has been no mid air mishap over the Indian skies involving civil aircraft.
(b) & (c) It has been made mandatory w.e.f. 1st January, 1999 to instal Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS)-II in all aircraft having certified seating capacity of more than 30 or a payload capacity of more than 3 tonnes operating in Indian airspace. Aeroplane having certified seating capacity of 10 to 30 or payload capacity of 1 to 3 tonnes have been required to instal ACAS-I upto 31.12.2003.
