(a) whether the Government is considering to set up sports schools in all districts of the
country including backward/ tribal and in the States of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh to provide
specialized sports training to emerging talents;
(b) if so, the details thereof including the locations identified for the purpose, State/Union
Territories-wise;
(c) the funds earmarked and likely to spend by the Government for the purpose; and
(d) the time by which these schools are likely to be set up?

(a) to (d) There is a proposal for setting up of District Level Sports Schools in the country.
The proposal is in conceptual stage. An Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) has been constituted in
regard to setting up of sports schools with members from other Ministries/Departments of the
Government. The meeting of the IMG was held on 15.02.2013. A Notice for Expression of Interest
(EOI) in this regard was published in all leading newspapers on 05th April, 2013. After
obtaining the views of all stakeholders, the scheme will be formulated in due course.
Since the project is still under consultation with and consideration by all stake holders
and the project is still to be framed, details like location of the project, funds to be
earmarked, time-frame for completion of project etc., could not be specified at this stage.
