(b) At the 14th ASEAN-India Summit, Leaders discussed various issues of mutual interest covering the politico-security, economic and socio-cultural spheres, as well as cooperation in Connectivity, Trade and Investment, Science and Technology, Disaster Management, Culture, People-to-people contacts, etc. Leaders also discussed plans to commemorate 25 years of the ASEAN-India dialogue partnership in 2017 in a befitting manner. India was able to garner support of ASEAN countries on issues of importance to India, notably terrorism including support for early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism; peaceful and unimpeded conduct of commerce in international waters of the region; raising the level of ASEAN-India trade and working towards a mutually beneficial Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.
At the 11th East Asia Summit (EAS), Leaders of the 18 EAS participating countries discussed issues of regional and global significance, including counter-terrorism, situation in the South China Sea and the Korean Peninsula, non-proliferation, strengthening responses to migrants in crisis and human trafficking, regional infrastructure and connectivity, RCEP etc. The following Declarations and Statements were adopted at the 11th EAS: (i) Vientiane Declaration on Promoting Infrastructure Development Cooperation in East Asia; (ii) EAS Declaration on Strengthening Responses to Migrants in crisis and Trafficking in persons; and (iii) EAS Statement on Nuclear Non-proliferation.
