(a) whether exports are being constantly promoted by the information technology industry in the country during thelast few years;
(b) if so, the State-wise value of exports made during the year 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001;
(c) whether there is a big difference between the value of annual exports made by different States;
(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the prospective scheme of the Government to promote exports by the States lagging behind?

(a) to (e): : As per the information available with the Ministry
of Information Technology, the State-wise value of exports made
during the year 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 is enclosed at Annexure.
The Central Government is providing the same incentives to all the
States for the development of IT industry. However, a difference
in the share of various States in IT exports is seen.. Ministry of
Information Technology, Government of India provides Grant-in-aid
of Rs.50 lakhs to the States for setting up of new Software
Technology Parks with high-speed data communication facility.
