Question : WORLD BANK ASSISTANCE FOR REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH



(a) whether the World Bank proposed to provide financial- assistance under the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Programme in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether population-growth has been brought under check on account of this programme; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The World Bank funded Reproductive and Child Health Programme launched in 1997 is currently under implementation. The first phase of the programme is closing in March, 2003, which is likely to be extended upto December, 2003. The details of assistance provided by the World Bank for this Programme is as under :

Further, the World Bank has been approached to provide assistance for the successor phase of the RCH Programme during 2003-2008 period.
