Question : Funds for Research Activities in Languages in Eighth Schedule

a)whether the Government allocates funds annually for the research activities of languages which are not included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India;
b)if so, the details of funds allocated and utilized for the said purpose during the last three years and the current year;
c) whether the said funds have been returned to the Union Government by various State Governments without fully utilizing them; and
d)if so, the details thereof along with the reasons for non-utilisation of the said fund?

(a) to (d) : The National Education Policy, 2020 focuses on promotion of all Indian Languages including research work in languages. Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru works for developing and promoting all Indian Languages including those that are not in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution. The Institute works and collaborates with various stakeholders including Universities, Institutes, States, Government Institutes, etc for development and research activities of languages. The Ministry does not allocate any funds to States for research in languages. The details of grants allocated for promotion of Indian Languages during last three years is as follows:
