(a) whether incidents of escape of goons and criminals from police custody are taking place in the country;
(b) if so, the number of goons and criminals who escaped from police custody
during the last three years, State-wise;
(c) whether such incidents are investigated and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (d): Yes Madam, some incidents of escape of criminals from police custody have been reported. The State - wise data available with National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for the years from 2014 to 2016 is enclosed as Annexure- I. The latest data is of the year 2016. Police and Public order are State subjects as per seventh Schedule of Constitution of India. Hence, respective State Governments take action in respect of incidents.
