Question : Penalties Imposed on TSPs

(a) whether private and public sector Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) owe over Rs. 92000 cr. as licence fee penalty to the Government and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the recent verdict on the Annual Gross Revenues (AGR) by the apex court has affected the TSPs and telecom industry and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the total amount of money to be paid by TSPs including public sector TSP post the Supreme Court verdict on AGR, TSP-wise; and

(d) whether the Government has formulated any plan to recover the said due amount and if so, the details thereof including the steps taken/being taken by the Government to recover the due amount and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Yes, the details of the outstanding amount thereof TSP-wise are enclosed as Annexure-I and Annexure-II.

(b) The COAI and few Telecom Service Providers have represented to the Department of Telecom to express their apprehension about the possible adverse effect on Telecom companies in view of the verdict on Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) matter by the apex court.

(c) The TSPs-wise outstanding amount after Hon’ble Supreme Court Judgement are enclosed as Annexure-I and Annexure-II.

(d) The Government has directed the Licensees to make the payments in accordance with the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 24.10.2019.
