Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES

(SMT. BIJOYA CHAKRAVARTY)

(a) to (c) The observed flows measured at CWC site at Billigundulu 60 km upstream of Mettur reservoir and inflows as reported by Government of Tamil Nadu at Mettur reservoir are not consistent with each other. Since the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in their interim order have directed Karnataka to release water from its reservoirs so as to ensure that 205 TMC of water is available in Mettur reservoir in a year from June to May, the measurements done at Mettur are used for monitoring purpose.
