Question : Mobile Service Infrastructure

(a) whether the Government proposes to establish the mobile service infrastructure in the uncovered villages of the aspirational districts through Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF);

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time framework planned to achieve these targets?

(a) to (c) The Government has approved the following schemes for establishing mobile service infrastructurein the uncovered villages of the aspirational Districts with funding from Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF):
(i) Scheme for providing 4G mobile services in 502 uncovered villages of Aspirational Districts of four States namely Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The work has been awarded in March 2021, and the project timeline is 12 months from the date of signing of the Agreement with the Implementing Agencies.
(ii) Scheme for providing 4G mobile services in 7287 uncovered villages of Aspirational Districts of five States namely Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand &Odisha.The project timeline is 18 months from the date of signing of the Agreement with the Implementing Agency. The tender for the work has been floated in December 2021.
