Question : PROPOSALS FOR FOREST DEVELOPMENT



(a) whether forest land would be made available to private and foreign companies for development of forest cover and animal life;

(b) if so, whether any proposal in this regard is received by the Union Government from foreign/private companies; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. However, preparation of the framework for Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (MSP) for forestation of degraded lands has been initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The proposed framework envisages a tripartite arrangement between the land owning agency, the local village communities, and the sponsors who may be a company, firm, user group, trust, society or organization in public or private sector.

(b) & (c) No such proposal has been received in the Ministry of Environment & Forests.
