(a) whether the Government has launched any scheme for providing travel grant to Indian artists for holding events abroad to promote Indian culture;

Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (c) of Lok Sabha Starred question No. 406 for 23.03.2020 regarding Travel Grant to Indian Artists

Ministry of Culture had launched the scheme for ‘Promoting International Cultural Relations’ in 2014 during the 12thFive Year Plan period with the objective of disseminating and creating awareness about various forms of Indian culture abroad. However, no grant was released under the scheme as none of the applications received for the purpose during the period wasfulfilling the criteria prescribed in the scheme. The scheme was proposed to continue beyond 12th plan period (i.e. beyond 31st March, 2017) with modification and renamed as ‘Travel Grant for promotion of Indian Culture’.However, final decision on continuation of the scheme has not been taken.The details of token budgetaryprovisions made during last two years and the current year are as under:
