Question : Common Entrance Ticket for Tourist Spots

(a) whether the Government has any proposal for introducing common entrance tickets for tourist spots;
(b) if so, the details along with its implementation status thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE FOR TOURISM (INDEPENDENT CHARGE)
(DR. MAHESH SHARMA)

(a) to (c): The ‘Tourist Spots’ in the country are under control of various authorities like Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), State Governments, Private Trusts etc. For Centrally protected monuments under ASI, a Visitor can purchase entry ticket for all ASI ticketed monuments from any Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) ticket counter at protected ticketed monument. The ticket would entitle to provide entry to any monument having entry fee of the same value as the ticket purchased. However, Taj Mahal, Agra is an exception, for which the entry ticket is higher and also entails payment of Pathkar to Agra Development Authority.

The system implemented by ASI is applicable to only Centrally protected ticketed monuments.
