(a) whether the Government have launched any scheme for eradication of social evil
of begging in public in our country; and
(b) if so, whether it is proposed to make use of Non-Government Organisations and
private sector funding to ensure rehabilitation of the beggars and for launching
massive public education programme against this?

(a) The rehabilitation of beggars is the responsibility of State Governments. They
have beggary prevention legislations and also implement schemes for
rehabilitation etc. of beggars. The Government of India has no specific scheme for
eradication of beggary.
