(a): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has taken several initiatives over the years for development of fisheries in sustainable and responsible manner with an aim to double the income of fishers. Some of the steps taken include the followings:
(i) Implementation of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS): Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries during 2015-16 to 2019-20. The scheme has made vital contributions towards development of fisheries sector.
(ii) Introduction of a flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)- A scheme to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India with highest ever investment of Rs.20,050 Crores in the fisheries sector, for implementation over a period of five years from financial year 2020-21 to financial year 2024-25 in all States/Union Territories. The scheme intends to address critical gaps in fish production and productivity, quality, technology, post-harvest infrastructure and management, modernization and strengthening of value chain, traceability, establishing a robust fisheries management framework and fishers’ welfare.
(iii) The Government of India, in 2018-19, extended the facility of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to fisheries and animal husbandry farmers to help them meet their working capital needs.
(iv) Creation of Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) at a total outlay of Rs. 7522 Crores to provide concessional finance to Eligible Entities (EEs), including State Governments/UTs and State entities for development of identified fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure facilities.
(b) and (c) : Year-wise total marine and Inland fish production in the country during last ten years is furnished below:

(d) and (e) : The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India through its ongoing schemes and programmes provides financial assistance for development of post harvest infrastructure facilities for fisheries, which includes development of fishing harbours, fish landing centers, construction of cold storages, ice plants, ice plants-cum-cold storages, fish feed mills, insulated and refrigerated fish transport facilities, cycle & motor cycle with ice box, construction wholesale fish markets, fish retail outlets, kiosks etc. Besides, the Department of Fisheries, Government of India also provides financial support for acquisition technologically advanced fishing vessels, deep sea fishing vessels for traditional fishermen, fishing boats and nets for traditional fishermen, providing safety kits for fishermen of traditional and motorized fishing vessels, communication and/ or tracking devices for traditional and motorized vessels and infrastructure facilities for Monitoring, Control and Surveillance.
(f): During the last five years (2015-16 to 2019-20), the Department of Fisheries, Government of India provided funds to the tune of Rs.20.08 crore to the Government of Andhra Pradesh under the National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen component of the erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development & Management of Fisheries.
