(a) whether there are large number of posts lying vacant in various ministries of the Union Government;
(b) if so, the details thereof, category-wise and Ministry/Department- wise;
(c) the efforts made so far to fill up the said vacant posts and the main reasons for not filling up the said vacant posts till date;
(d) the time by which said posts are likely to be filled; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): As per the latest published Brochure on Pay and Allowances, the Ministries/Departments-wise number of estimated sanctioned posts, number in position and vacant posts category-wise(Gazetted/Non-Gazetted) employees as on 01.03.2012 is placed below at Annexure-A.
(c) to (e): All Ministries/Departments are required to review their vacancies vis-à- vis the work load regularly and take necessary steps for filling up vacancies as per their requirements subject to extant guidelines and rules on the matter. This Department issues instructions from time to time to all Ministries/Departments to fill up the vacant posts on timely basis. The data in this regard is not centrally maintained.
