Question : MOTIVATION TO YOUNG SCIENTISTS



(a) Whether it is a fact that Young Scientists in our country are not getting enough motivations for research and development work;

(b) if so, whether the Government have made any assessment in this regard;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the action proposed to be taken by the Government to motivate young scientists in the country?

(a) to (d) No, Sir. There are several programmes specially meant for young scientists sponsored by different S&T agencies for research and development work and also to motivate science students to choose Science & Technology as their career. Some of the recent initiatives taken to motivate young scientist and students are: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, Swarnajayanti Fellowships, Biotechnology Fellowships, National Women Bioscientists Award, Summer Research Fellowships, Integrated Science Olympiad Programme, Fast Track Proposals for Young Scientists and Fund for improvement of Infrastructure for R&D in Universities and other higher educational institutions (FIST).
