Question : PROVISION OF MOBILE CONNECTIONS

(a) the total number of mobile telephone connections provided by BSNL in the country especially in the State of Chhattisgarh, as on date;

(b) whether all the districts and tehsil headquarter are connected with mobile telephone services in Chhattisgarh;

(c) if not, the names of the district and tehsil headquarters still not connected with mobile services in the State;

(d) the plan formulated for the proliferation of the mobile services in Chhatgtgisgarh;

(e) whether the mobile connections in Chhattisgarh are made available on demand; and

(f) if not, the time by which it is likely to be available on demand?

(a) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has provided 36687251 numbers of mobile telephone connections (GSM) in the country in its area of operation including 614405 numbers of mobile connections in Chhattisgarh as on 20.4.2008.

(b) Yes. Sir.

(c ) Does not arise in view of (b) above.

(d) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has planned to install 1131 numbers of Mobile Base Station with capacity of 10.5 lakh lines in Chhattisgarh for the year 2008-09. The installation work of 290 Mobile base Stations is also in progress.

(e) & (f) Yes, Sir. Mobile connections are available on demand in Chhattisgrarh.
