Question : CGHS MEDICINES IN MARKET



(a) whether cases of illegal selling of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) medicines in the open market has come to notice of the Government recently;

(b) if so, the details thereof indicating the number of such cases reported during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise along with value of these medicines; and

(c) the remedial steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to prevent the same?

(a) & (b): No information about such cases has been received except a newspaper report dated 21.01.2015 regarding selling of CGHS medicines in the open market.

The concerned Vigilance section has taken up the matter with Delhi Police Crime Branch to ascertain the invo- lvement of CGHS.

(c): # A circular dated 10th August 2011 was issued to CMOs In-charge, CGHS Wellness Centres regarding steps to be taken to stop pilferage of medicines.

# Surprise inspections are carried out by the superior officers to verify the stock of drugs/medicines in the dispensary store/counters.

# Internal Audit Unit (IAU) of Vigilance Division of CGHS does surprise visits to check whether the guide- lines to stop pilferage of medicines are being adhered to.

# 100% Physical Verification is carried out annually by IAU, CGHS (HQ) in each and every CGHS Wellness Centers in Delhi.

# Appropriate action is taken in case of Non-compliance of the instructions.
