(a) to (b): Yes sir. The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Fisheries Husbandry and Dairying under flagship scheme namely “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) - a scheme to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India” provides financial relief package to support in promoting/starting cage fish farming across the country. The Scheme, has a two sub-components namely (i) Establishment of Open Sea cages (100-120 cubic meter volume) with an unit cost of Rs.5 lakhs to promote cage culture in marine water bodies and (ii) Installation of Cages in Reservoirs with an unit cost of Rs. Rs. 3.00 lakh to promote cage culture in Inland Water bodies. Further, central assistance up to 40% of the unit/project cost for General category and 60% for SC/ST/Women category with the funding pattern in the ratio of 60:40 for general State, 90:10 for North Eastern States and Himalayan States while 100% for Union Territories are provided to States/UTS.
(c) to (d): PMMSY scheme provides emphasis to promote sustainable fish production and productivity through targeted interventions aiming towards harnessing the unrealized potential in Inland fisheries sector, aquaculture and mariculture in a responsible and sustainable manner with minimal environmental impacts.
