Question : Police Medals in CAPFs

(a) the total number of police personnel/military forces across the country who were awarded Police Medals during their services during each of the last three years;

(b) whether these awarded police personnel/military personnel have been granted any allowances along with their salary and perks;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, whether the Government will consider to increase in allowance in addition to their salary and perks associated with Police Medals; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The total number of Police Medals awarded to police personnel of States/Union Territories/Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)/Central Police Organisations (CPOs) during the last three years is placed at Annexure-I.

(b) to (e): Yes, Sir. The awardees of President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Gallantry and Prime Minister’s Police Medal for Life Saving are granted monetary allowances along with their salary and perks. The Government of India has enhanced the monetary allowances for the recipients of President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and Prime Minister’s Police Medal for Life Saving from Rs. 3000/-p.m. to Rs. 6000/-p.m. and from Rs. 600/-p.m. to Rs.1200/-p.m. respectively with effect from 14th June 2018.
