(a) to (d) : A statement is laid on the Table of the House
STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 14 FOR 09.11.2010 ASKED BY SHRI DILIP KUMAR MANSUKLAL GANDHI AND SHRI RUDRA MADHAB RAY REGARDING REVENUE FROM COMMONWEALTH GAMES
(a) & (b) : No, Madam. An amount of Rs. 1708.00 crore was expected to be generated through revenue by the Organizing Committee(OC) which has not been achieved.
(c): An amount of Rs. 1669.42 crore have been given by the Government of India to the Organizing Committee(OC) as loan for the Conduct of the Games,against the total approved amount of Rs. 1813.42 crore. In addition, Rs. 687 crore for Overlays(temporary fittings and fixtures) had also been approved as a loan to the OC. Rs. 87.00 crore had been approved as grant for âTiming, Scoring and Result System(TSR) and Games Times Equipment to the OC. Out of the above, Rs. 557.40 crore has been released for Overlays and Rs. 81.00 crore for TSR and Sports Equipment to OC. Funds from the external agencies have been received in respect of i) Sale of tickets
ii) Sale of International Television Rights. From the sale of international Television rights,
USD 37,764,101 ( equivalent to Rs. 173.71 Crores) have been received till date which does not
include USD 5.05 million ( equivalent to Rs.23.23 crores) withheld as Tax deducted at source
from the payments of Network Ten in Australia.
(d) There were no earnings from advertisements as such. The details, of revenue earned by the Organising Committee from sale of tickets, sponsorships, international broadcasting rights, etc., are as under :
i) Sale of Ticketsâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦Rs. 39.17 crore
ii) Sponsorshipâ¦â¦Rs. 114.15 crore received against contracted value of Rs. 375.05 crore
iii) International T.V. Rightsâ¦â¦Rs. 173.71 crore received against contracted value of Rs. 213.45 crore
