(a) the number of people being provided with foodgrains under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the country at present on the basis of the census conducted till date, State/UT-wise including Uttar Pradesh;
(b) whether there is a huge gap between demand and supply under the said system in Uttar Pradesh; and

(a): Department is providing foodgrains to about 80 Crore National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiaries in the country. The State/UT wise number of NFSA beneficiaries, including the State of Uttar Pradesh, is at Annexure.
(b) & (c): No Sir, allocation of foodgrains to the State of Uttar Pradesh is done as per the number of beneficiaries covered under NFSA.
