Question : MEAL THROUGH ANGANWADI PROJECT



(a) whether the kids belonging to the tribal and rural areas of the country are not getting the benefit of meals through Anganwadi project;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there is any proposal under consideration of the Government to provide special facilities covering all the children, pregnant women of the country;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to provide facilities to the children and women?

(a)&(b) Supplementary nutrition is provided to all children, including those from tribal and rural areas, coming to the Anganwadi Centre.

(c),(d),(e)&(f) The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, which is an ongoing scheme, provides a package of six services comprising supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-up, referral services, pre-school and non-formal education and nutrition & health education with a view to improve the nutritional and health status of children below 6 years of age and pregnant women and lactating mothers.

At present, therefore, there is no other proposal under consideration of the Government.
