(a)&(b):As part of the National Perspective Plan for Sagarmala, six locations have been identified for development of new ports in the country. These include – Outer Harbour at Paradip in Odisha, Sirkhazi in Tamil Nadu, Vadhavan in Maharashtra, Enayam in Tamil Nadu, Belekeri in Karnataka andSagar in West Bengal. The Techno-Economic Feasibility Reports for these 6 locations have been prepared. The in-principle approval was obtained from the Cabinet on 5th July 2016 for setting up a major port at Enayam.
(c)to(e):Yes, Madam. Cruise Terminals are operational at Mumbai, Murmagao, New Mangalore, Cochin and Chennai major ports where cruise shipping visit. The Government proposes to upgrade Cruise Terminal at Mumbai Port and construct a new terminal at Cochin Port at cost of Rs 197 crore and Rs 25.72 crore respectively. The proposed projects are slated to be completed by August, 2019 and February, 2020 respectively.
(f) The Government has taken the following steps to boost infrastructure in ports, shipping in the country.
i. The Model Concession Agreement in the PPP sector has been revised to attract investment in the port sector.
ii. The security guideline for PPP and dredging projects has been revised.
iii.Expansion, modernization, development and upgradation of Port infrastructure, Shipping and Inland Waterways in the county are ongoing process which includes construction of new berths/harbours& terminals, mechanization of existing berths.
iv. Ministry has taken several other measures/ initiatives under SagarmalaProgramme for promoting coastal shipping, cruise tourism, enhancing Port connectivity through Bharatmala and ship repair facilities for Ports to boost infrastructure in ports, shipping and inland waterways in the country.
