(a) whether the Government is satisfied with production of T-90 tanks from Heavy Vehicles
Factory;
(b) if so, whether they match the standard of the Russian Tanks;
(c) if so, the details of supplies to Army;
(d) whether T-90 and T-72 tanks are having certain technical problems viz. barrel bursting
etc.; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and steps taken to sort out the problems?

(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) Yes, Sir.
(c) Heavy Vehicle Factory has so far supplied 181 T-90 Tanks to Army.
(d) No technical problem viz barrel bursting has been observed in T90 tanks. The problem
of barrel bursting was noticed earlier in T-72 tank.
(e) The bursting of barrel in T 72 tanks occurred in barrels of Russian origin as well as
of Indian origin. The problem was analysed in consultation with Russian experts and remedial
action towards modifying the chemistry of material has been taken.
