Question : Health Expenditure

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether as per the study conducted by insurance companies the annual expenditure on treatment of various diseases has increased from 2 percent to 13 percent in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and whether the Government has identified the reasons for increase in the expenditure on the treatment of diseases;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has assessed the reason behind the increase in the number of private hospitals and nursing homes in the country wherein the treatment is expensive and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is not aware about the said study conducted by the insurance companies on annual expenditure on treatment of various diseases.
(d): Public health and hospitals is a State subject. The Union Government has not undertaken any such study.
