(a) whether the Railways are considering more autonomy for the Railway Protection Force (RPF);

(c) whether the Railways are considering to modernize the Railway Protection Force (RPF);

commendable work of passenger safety and better protection and security of railway property; and

(b): Does not arise.
(c) and (d): Modernization of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has already been taken up.
Steps have been taken to provide Transport, wireless equipments, modern weaponry, security
gadgets, computers, training equipments, gymnasia etc. as part of modernization programme.
(e) and (f): No, Sir. However, the following awards already exist:-
(i) President`s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
(ii) Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
(iii) Railway Minister`s Medal for Bravery.
(iv) Railway Minister`s Medal for Best Investigation.
(v) Director General`s Commendation and Insignia.
