Question : Menstrual Health Management Component of SBM(G)

(a) whether the Government is aware of the activities that have been undertaken as a part of the Menstrual Health Management Component of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) (SBM-G) during the last three years;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the details of the total amount spent on the Menstrual Health Management Component of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) during each of the last three years?

(a) to (c) Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) is one of the integral components of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [(SBM(G)]. Under the Scheme, for taking up SLWM activities, financial assistance with a cap of Rs. 7/12/15/20 lakh is provided for Gram Panchayats having upto 150/300/500/ more than 500 households respectively. Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has issued national Guidelines on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). The Ministry has also issued comprehensive guidelines on Gender & Sanitation. The awareness activities about MHM can be taken from Information, Education and Communication (IEC) funds.
(d) MHM is a part of SLWM. The details of the Central share amount spent on SLWM activities under SBM(G) during each of the last 3 years, State/UT-wise, are given in Annexure-1.
