Question : SETTING UP OF TEXTILE PARKS



(a) whether the Union Government has allocated funds for setting up of textile parks in the country during each of the last three years;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise and year-wise;

(c) whether the Union Government proposes to set up a textile park in Dindigul in Tamil Nadu for the promotion of traditional and world famous Chungudi sarees of Chinnalapatti and other textiles in around Dindigul;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & b): Yes, Madam, an amount of Rs. 288.40 crores have been released for setting up textile parks in the country during the last three years. State-wise and year wise details are at Annexure-I.

(c) to (e): No, Madam. The Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) is demand driven scheme being implemented in a Public Private Partnership mode (PPP) by Industry Associations/Groups of Entrepreneurs by forming Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). No proposal has been received for setting up Textile Park in Dindigul.
