(a): As part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a centrally sponsored "PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme" for providing financial, technical and business support for setting up / upgradation of micro food processing enterprises in the country. The scheme is operational for a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crore. Scheme primarily adopts One District One Product (ODOP) approach to reap the benefit of scale in terms of procurement of inputs, availing common services and marketing of products. It provides the framework for value chain development and alignment of support infrastructure.
The scheme aims to enhance the competitiveness of existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and promote formalization of the sector.
The objectives of the scheme are to build capacity of micro enterprises through increased access to credit, integration with organized supply chain by strengthening branding and marketing, increased access to common services, strengthening of institutions, research & training in the food processing sector.

(b): The Scheme was approved by the Cabinet in May, 2020 & guidelines were issued in June, 2020. The achievements made under the Scheme till date, since its inception are at Annexure-II.
The MoFPI is facing challenges in implementation of the Scheme such as non-allocation of its corresponding share by States/ UTs, non-receipt of sufficient applications under individual / group categories, delay in sanctioning of loans by banks etc.
(c) & (d): Till date, 4909 Individual Beneficiaries, 3 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), 60 Self Help Groups (SHGs) and 2 Producer Cooperatives have been benefitted under PMFME Scheme since its launch. The State-wise details including Telangana are as Annexure-III. The Scheme envisages support to both rural and urban micro food processing entrepreneurs.
(e): The Capacity Building component of the PMFME Scheme envisages to provide Food Processing and Entrepreneurship Training to the new and existing micro-food processing individuals taking benefits under the scheme. 173 training sessions have been conducted till date.The details of persons trained under the scheme are as under:

(f) & (g): Till date, 26,424 applications of individual micro food processing enterprises have been submitted for Credit linked subsidy out of which 4974 loans sanctioned. Subsidy/ Grant –in-Aid released to 1280 beneficiaries amounting to Rs. 39.84 crore under the scheme.
