Question : HIV TEST IN ANIMALS



(a) whether the Government has received any report from Sri Nirwikar Path on June 26, 2004 regarding blood samples of animals which have been found HIV positive;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) whether the Government propose to undertake further investigation in this direction; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): Yes, Sir. The Ministry received a report from Nirwikar Path regarding blood samples of animals found HIV positive. This was examined in consultation with the experts/scientist of the country. The experts are of the opinion that HIV does not occur in animals.

©&(d): There is no report in the literature world wide that animals are affected by HIV. Therefore, the Government does not propose to conduct test on the virus.
