Question : AMENDMENT IN PANCHAYATI RAJ ACT

(a) whether the Government is contemplating to amend the existing Panchayati Raj Act to strengthen the rights of the officials of Panchayati Raj; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): No, Sir. Panchayati Raj is a State subject. A Model Panchayati Raj Act has however been formulated by this Ministry and circulated among the states for adoption in part or full, if they so wish.
