Question : Violence in Assam

(a) the number of persons arrested and convicted with regard to massacre in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts Assam in 2014;

(b) whether the CAPF deployed after the violence have been withdrawn;

(c) if so, the security measures likely to be taken if the violence recur in the said region;

(d) the status of All Out Operation in BTAD started during 2014; and

(e) the status of talks with the militant outfits in the State?

(a) to (d): Sustained All out operation in Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) which was started in December, 2014 is continuing. During the operations 634 persons have been arrested since December, 2014. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployment has not been withdrawn from BTAD after the violence.

(e): Tripartite talks with United Liberation Front of Asom (pro-talk) group, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Ranjan Daimary) and other groups are continuing.
