Question : PRESERVATION OF MONUMENTS



(a) the details of protected monuments and other historical monuments in each of the States of the country along with the funds allocated/expenditure incurred on preservation/maintenance of these monuments including Tipu Fort in Kerala, Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan and religious places in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT and monument /fort-wise;

(b) the details of protected monuments, temples and forts lying in dilapidated conditions due to lack of proper maintenance along with the action proposed to be taken for restoration of these monuments State/UT, and monument- wise;

(c) whether the Government proposes to include more monuments/heritage sites in the list of monuments of national importance/protected monuments;

(d) if so the details thereof, monument and State/UT- wise; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government to promote tourism by preserving these monuments for tourists attraction?

(a) The State/UT-wise details of protected monuments/forts of ASI in the country including those situated in Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh along with expenditure incurred for last three years and allocation for the current financial year, are given in Annexure-I.

(b) Conservation work of the protected monuments is a continuous process. Essential conservation work on them is attended regularly depending upon the availability of resources and they are in a fairly good state of preservation.

(c)&(d) Updation of the list of protected monuments is a dynamic process. The details of identified proposals for protection, State/UT-wise, are given in Annexure-II.

(e) The protected monuments are kept in presentable condition and essential tourists facilities are provided within the available resources, to attract the tourists.
