Question : Migrant Labourers

(a)the number of migrant labourers brought back to Raigarh and Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh during lockdown and the names of the states from which they were brought back along with State-wise numbers thereof;
(b)the arrangements made to bring them back; and
(c)the number of labourers sent back from Raigarh and Jashpur district to other districts, the attangements made for them and the names of places where they were sent back?

(a): As per information received from Government of Chhattisgarh, during lockdown the number of migrant labourers brought back to Raigarh district from other States is 26261 and in Jashpur district is 14640. The State Wise information is at annexure-I.
(b): Indians Railways operated 4621 Shramik Special Trains between 1st May, 2020 and 31st August, 2020 carrying 63.19 lakh migrant workers to their home States. These Shramik Specials were organized as “trains on demand” as and when State Government requisitioned these trains. Further arrangements were made by the district administration to reach their home village (Quarantine Center) for the labourers coming back by train or other means from other states.
(c): As per information received from Government of Chhattisgarh, the number of migrant labourers returned back from Raigarh district to other States is 90 and from Jashpur district is 666. The State Wise information is at annexure-II.
