(a) the number of houses sanctioned for construction under `Valmiki-Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY)` for the benefits of slum-dwellers since the inception of the Scheme and the number of houses constructed out of them so far, State-wise, category-wise and year-wise; and
(b) the progress report of the project as on date?

(a): Since the inception of VAMBAY scheme till 31.12.2004,
Government of India has released Central subsidy amounting to
Rs.749.87 crore to the States/UTs for construction/upgradation
of 3,49,223 dwelling units and 49,312 toilet seats. State-wise,
Year-wise details are annexed. Ministry monitors the State-wise
data on dwelling units and toilet seats and category-wise
details are not maintained.
(b): As per the reports received from the State
Governments/UTs, as on 31.12.2004, 1,60,613 Dwelling units have
been completed and 33,254 are under construction while 28,320
Toilet seats have been completed and 3,327 Toilet seats are
under construction.
