(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. As per the UNAIDS report on the global
HIV/AIDS epidemic, published in June 2000, it has been
mentioned that the number of HIV infections in India are
more than in any other country in the world except South
Africa.
The adult HIV Prevalence rate is 0.7% and the high
number is due to large size of the population in the
country. A statement indicating the annual rate of increase
in AIDS cases and Deaths is enclosed.
