Question : Super Speciality Blocks under PMSSY

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government have sanctioned Super Speciality Blocks under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in the country including Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/ UT-wise;

(c) the details of the colleges in Maharashtra where Super Speciality Wings have been set up;

(d) whether it is a fact that there is shortage of specialist doctors in the said Super Speciality Blocks; and

(e) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto and the efforts made to meet the above shortage of specialist doctors?

(a) & (b): The Government has taken up 75 Up-gradation Projects in various parts of the country under different phases of PMSSY, out of which Super Speciality Blocks have been sanctioned in 63 Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). Details are given in the enclosed Annexure.
(c): Construction of Super Speciality Blocks have been approved in following four GMCs up-gradation projects in Maharashtra under PMSSY scheme :
(i) Government Medical College, Aurangabad;
(ii) Government Medical College, Latur;
(iii) Government Medical College, Akola; and
(iv) Sri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College, Yavatmal.

(d) & (e): Deployment of manpower to run and operate the facilities created under PMSSY in existing Govt Medical Colleges, is the responsibility of the State Government concerned. State Governments have already been requested to make necessary provisions thereof.
