Question : Amendment in Cable Television Networks Regulation Act

(a) whether the Government has invited comments/ suggestions from various stakeholders in connection with the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether any recommendations have been received by the Government regarding non-renewal of license under this new bill from the State Governments so as to restrict them to run TV channels; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government in this regard?

(a) to (d) : Based on the recommendations of various speciailized agencies, Government has proposed certain amendments to the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act,1995, which have been put up in public domain on the website of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, www.mib.gov.in, for inviting comments/ suggestions from general public/ stakeholders.
