Question : COMMUNITY RADIO SCHEME



(a) whether government have approved a Community Radio Scheme for the educational institutions;

(b) if so, details thereof; and

(c) the names of the educational institutions in the country particularly in Maharashtra, where these Community Radio Stations are to be set up during current year ?

(a)&(b) Govt. has decided to grant Licenses to recognised educational institutions, including Universities,and Institutes of Technology/Management, for setting up low power FM Community Radio Stations, as per the guidelines. These guidelines are also available on this Ministry`s website: www.mib.nic.in .

(c) A number of institutions including three institutions from Maharashtra, namely (i) G.D.Sawant Arts, Science & BCS College, Nasik, (ii) Bhakti Kala Kshetra, Mumbai, (iii) Film & Television Institute of India, Pune, have applied for license for setting up a Community Radio Station.
