Question : IRREGULARITIES IN SPACE CENTRE .

(a) whether the Union Government have ordered CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in SHAR Satellite Launching Centre;

(b) if so, the present status thereof;

(c) whether the senior CISF officials are hands in glove with the SHAR officials in various scams as alleged in the regional Telugu daily `EENADU` dated March 5, 2001;

(d) if so, the measures taken by the Government in this regard;

(e) whether the security arrangements at SHAR centre are inadequate;

(f) if so, the facts thereof; and
(g) the corrective measures taken in this regard?

(b) Does not arise.


(c)&(d) The matter is being inquired into. Pending inquiry, two officials have been transferred out of SHAR.

(e) No, Sir. The security of SHAR Centre, Sriharikota is adequately taken care of by Central Industrial Security Force(CISF). Security arrangements at SHAR Centre are also reviewed by the Department of Space and the Intelligence Bureau periodically.
