Question : Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

(a) whether the Government is considering to approve the implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls Sabla in all 51 districts of Madhya Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which it is likely to be approved; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): The Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) (earlier named as Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls), a Centrally-sponsored scheme introduced in the year 2010-11 is implemented in 205 districts across the States/UTs. As of now the scheme is operational only in fifteen districts viz. Sheopur, Rajgarh, Sidhi, Neemuch, Jhabua, Tikamgarh, Rewa, Bhind, Damoh, Indore, Sagar, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Betul, Balaghat in the State of Madhya Pradesh. The budgetary allocation for the scheme for the year 2017-18 is Rs. 460 crore, as such the scheme cannot be implemented in all the districts at present.
